==== 1/4W 5% Carbon ====

The most common resistors are 1/4W 5% carbon film. Unless otherwise specified, this is what is considered the 'default' resistor.

Digikey's brand is Yageo, and the part numbers are encoded as **1.2K**QBK-ND where the bold part at the beginning is the resistance value

==== 1/4W 1% Metal ====

Higher precision, for filters, DACs and other places where the value has to be exact

Mouser's Xicon brand 1% metal film resistors are encoded as 271-**10K**-RC where the bold part in the middle is the resistance value (10K in this case)

Digikey's Yageo brand 1% metal film resistors are encoded as **10.0K**XBK-ND where the bold part in the beginning is the resistance value (10.0K in this case)
